  2. GR/EU - MIS 377322 - Protomi - Adaptive Technology in Optical Transmission.
Research project co-financed by E.U. and Greek national funds within the framework of the THALES program: Reinforcement of the interdisciplinary and/or inter-institutional research and innovation.
    Duration: 44 months (04/2012 - 11/2015).
    Budget: € 587.664,00. Project Coordinator

The subject of the research was the development of signal processing algorithms and hardware architectures for low cost, high speed optical communications. Novel algorithms were devised and efficient architectures were proposed and were implemented on Virtex 7 FPGA circuitry, enabling the real time equalization of up to 40Gb/s direct detection optical transmission. More than 20 faculty members, research associates and PhD candidates from 3 different Universities were involved in the implementation of the project.
