I am a Research and Teaching Faculty Member at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of the Peloponnese, and a member of the Software Systems and Databases Laboratory (SoDa Lab) since August 2008. I hold a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Crete (2000), as well as an MSc in Computer Engineering (2003) and a PhD in PhD in Computer Engineering (2009) from the Technical University of Crete. During 2007–2008, I was a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics (MPII) under the supervision of Prof. Gerhard Weikum. My research spans distributed systems, large-scale data management, and data science. Specifically, my work focuses on cloud and edge computing, advanced database technologies (NoSQL and relational), information retrieval, data mining, and privacy preservation (data/user anonymization). My interests also extend to social network analysis, digital libraries, and research metrics. Driven by these core areas, my recent research has led to applications in agriculture, culture, and intelligent transportation. I have published over 35 peer-reviewed publications in international journals and conferences (available [here] or via [Google Scholar]) and have participated in more than 12 European and national R&D projects. Additionally, I serve as a reviewer for prominent scientific venues and act as an expert evaluator for European Commission research proposals. With extensive teaching experience across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, I have supervised over 20 student theses and have been honored with two national research scholarships.
